Nigeria’s under-20 male football team, the Flying Eagles, were on Sunday drawn in Group A with hosts Senegal, Congo and Cote D’Ivoire for the 2015 CAF U-20 Championship.

The grouping followed the draws for the tournament, held at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt.

Group B of the competition has Ghana, South Africa, Mali and Zambia.

The semi-finalists at the eight-team tournament will represent Africa at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup scheduled for New Zealand.

The Flying Eagles have won the tournament on six occasions — 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 2005 and 2011.

Nigeria’s under-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, will also start their campaign at the 2015 African U-17 Championship against hosts Niger Republic in the opening match at the Gen. Seyni Kountche Stadium, Niamey.

Also in Nigeria’s Group A are Guinea and Zambia.

The draws were conducted in Cairo, Egypt by the General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Hicham El Amrani.

El Amrani was assisted by CAF Executive Committee member, Mohamed Raouaroaua, who doubles as President of the Organising Committee of the African U-17 Championship.

For Nigeria’s other group matches, they will face Guinea on Feb. 18, before taking on Zambia in the last Group A match on Feb. 21.

The other pairing in Group B has Cote D’Ivoire, South Africa, Mali and Cameroon.

The eight-team tournament is billed to hold from 15 February to 1 March.

The semi-finalists will represent the continent at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
