Kaduna state governor , Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has won the Kaduna Peoples Democratic Party governorship primaries.
He will now face Malam Nasir El-Rufai of the opposition All Progressives Congress in the general election next February.
Almost all the delegates from the 23 local councils of the state ratified Yero’s candidacy.
He won 970 out of the 971 votes cast by delegates.
Senator Zigo Azeez who ran against him got just one vote.
The governorship election committee Chairman Dr. Steve Oru ,who announced the results declared Governor Yero as the winner.
Earlier before the commencement of the primary election , three out of the five aspirants; former Aviation Minister , Felix Hassan Hyet, former Secretary to the State Government , Lawal Samaila Yakawada and Air Commodore John Ajeye stepped down for Governor Yero .
In his speech after being declared the winner, Yero appealed to other aspirants to join hands with him to take Kaduna to the desired promise land.
