The Managing Director of Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Mr Gabriel Amuchi, said the agency was mobilising to re-launch its operation zero potholes programme.

A statement issued by FERMA Public Relations Officer, Mrs Maryam Sanusi , said Amuchi stated this in Kabba, Kogi State, while inspecting some federal roads.

He said the aim was to make all arterial Federal roads motorable nationwide for the yuletide period.

Amuchi added that FERMA engineers were being mobilised to use the dry season to carry out massive road repairs.

According to the statement, Amuchi inspected the failing expansion joints on Murtala Mohammed Bridge at Kotonkarfe.

“The bridge is an old one with an old design; heavy traffic on the bridge has necessitated continuous maintenance.’’

It said that the FERMA boss also inspected the failed sections of the Lokoja – Okene road where he instructed the contractor handling repair work to speed up action on it.

According to the statement, Amuchi also inspected a bridge at the Ahmadu Bello University College of Agriculture campus in Kabba.
