Kogi West PDP Leadership Forum on Tuesday demanded the right to choose their representatives based on established procedures and existing realities.

The is contained in a communiqué signed by some leaders of the forum, Sen. Tunde Ogbeha, Mr Olusola Akanmode, Chief Samuel Akande and Dr Tunde Olusunle.

Read by Olusunle at NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja, the forum said it was committed to ensuring the victory of the party in the 2015 general elections.

The forum said the Kogi West senatorial seat would rotate between Lokoja-Kotonkarfe, Kabba-Bunu-Ijumu and Yagba Federal Constituencies on eight years basis.

It said that it was now the turn of Yagba, adding that the people, in collaboration with Lokoja-Kotonkarfe Federal Constituency, had selected Joseph Faniyi, a former member of the House of Representatives, for the seat.

It added that Kogi West leaders and stakeholders met on Nov.14 and accepted the choice of Faniyi. The zone at the moment is being represented by Senator Smart Adeyemi.

The forum said it had deliberated on the strategies and approaches for the success of the party at the polls.

The forum reaffirmed its unwavering commitment and support for the second term bid of President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that Kogi West recorded 95 per cent for him in the 2011 election.

“We are prepared and determined to surpass this record in the forthcoming elections. That is why we do not want anything that will cause discontent among our people.’’

The communiqué commended the leadership of Lokoja-Kotonkarfe for its commitment to the enthronement of equity, justice and fairness.

“We appeal to the party at the state and national levels to ensure that nothing untoward happens to violate and distort the collective aspirations of our people.

“This is as expressed at the ward congress.”
