Kolawole Taiwo: wants a fifth term

A legislator in Lagos State Nigeria, says he has not had enough representing his people for 20 years.

Kolawole Taiwo, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun says he wants to run for a fifth term.

Now the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Taiwo has formally declared his intention to seek re-election.

He made the declaration at Alao Bus Stop, Ojo Road, Ajegunle, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

In his account of his stewardship since he began representing the constituency in 1999, Kolawole said he came to the Lagos House of Assembly in 1999 when Ajegunle was an eyesore, 90 percent of roads untarred.

“People see Ajegunle as a no-go area, But today Ajegunle is peaceful and can compete with Surulere in terms of roads. I have used my influence to attract meaningful development for my people,” the lawmaker said.

He stated further that, “over the years, through my personal programme called HKT Poverty Alleviation Empowerment, I have empowered thousands in self employment and adult education. Many have graduated from tertiary institutions and are now fully employed. I also facilitated provision of transformers and boreholes to various communities,” Kolawole said.

His experience in the Lagos Assembly, he said, has brought development to the state which has stood Lagos out in the nation and world globally.

He assured his constituents in particular and Lagosians in general that by God’s grace, If he is given the opportunity to return to the House in 2015, Ajegunle will see more developmental projects that will improve socio-economic growth of the area and Lagos will be one of the best cities in the world.

Kolawole Taiwo is the present Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and popularly called the Encyclopedia of the House because of his experience.

If he comes back he has the best chance to be the Speaker of the Assembly in June 2015, political observers said.
