Munroe's Bombardier executive Lear jet hits a crane on landing

News reports said the Bombardier Lear 36 executive jet carrying televangelist Myles Munroe to Bahama International Airport hit a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard while trying to land.

The plane which was conveying nine persons, including Munroe’s wife, Ruth and daughter and exploded on impact before crashing into the ground.

There had been heavy rain across the region which may have caused the plane to hit the crane.

The Department of Civil Aviation described the plane as a Lear 36 executive jet and added that it had departed from the Lynden Pindling International Airport.

All the occupants of the plane were on their way to a conference organised by Dr Munroe. The conference, a Global Leadership Forum, was scheduled to begin today.

The identities of the other deceased have not yet been confirmed. A full investigation into the crash will commence today. The 60-year-old pastor wrote and co-wrote more than a hundred inspirational books during his career.

Known for his work as a ‘lecturer, teacher, life coach, government consultant, and leadership mentor’, Dr Munroe – who was awarded the OBE in 1998 for his ‘spiritual and social contributions to the national development of the Bahamas’ – was the leader of Bahamas Faith Ministries (BFM).
