Emir Sanusi with Jonathan: Accord reached

The visit by Emir Muhammed Sanusi of Kano to President Goodluck Jonathan last week has yielded some fruits: The Emir will have his seized travel passport back and he will also be paid his withheld salaries at the Central Bank of Nigeria, a report today in The Nation newspaper claimed.

The Nation reported that the Kano Central Prison, owned by the Federal Government, and which is near the Emir’s palace will also be relocated.

According to the newspaper, the Presidency has made these concessions, to have a “total reconciliation with the Emir”.

The State Security Service (SSS) had in February seized Sanusi’s passport, after he was suspended by Jonathan.

Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos in April asked the Federal Government, the police and the SSS to release Sanusi’s passport.
