Amidst tight security in and around Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam was on Saturday endorsed for a second term as the 2015 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Scores of security operatives were busy throughout the state patrolling all the streets of the metropolis.
Similarly, Damaturu Stadium, venue of the event, was heavily fortified with armed security men.
One of the lanes of the dual carriage way along the stadium was closed to motorists and pedestrians.
Some residents of Damaturu who spoke to NAN expressed satisfaction with the arrangement.
Aliyu Umar, a resident said “the security arrangements are very encouraging”.
Hundreds of party supporters that came for the event were busy dancing all the way to the jam packed stadium.
