Stephen Opayemi: wins battle for daughter

A Nigerian girl barred from her elementary school in Connecticut, United States amid fears she may have been exposed to the Ebola virus while in Nigeria is now back in class.

Seven-year-old Ikeoluwa Opayemi was permitted back at Meadowside Elementary School in Milford on Friday, three days after her father filed a federal lawsuit saying his daughter had been unfairly treated because she didn’t pose a health risk.

The family visited Nigeria for a wedding from Oct. 2-13, at a time when there were no Ebola patients any where in the country.

The Milford school system on Thursday reversed its decision to keep her out of class for 21 days.

Schools superintendent Elizabeth Feser and the girl’s father, Stephen Opayemi, say the lawsuit was settled.
