“The day should serve as a day of reflection to all Muslims, the day will also serve as day of prayers for lasting peace in both the state and the country,’’ the statement said.

It urged Muslims to offer special prayers for the return of peace to the state and Nigeria as a whole.

“It is a day for Borno people to showcase Islam as a vehicle for social mobilisation towards positive change and societal re-engineering,’’ it said.

Osun state has also declared the day a public holiday for muslims.
