The Rivers Police Command said on Monday that it had begun search for the abducted former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Mr Okey Wali, according to its spokesman, DSP Ahmad Muhammad.

Wali, the immediate past president of the NBA, was abducted on Saturday.

He said information available to the police, showed that Wali was trailed by his abductors before being seized and taken away.

He was visiting an elder brother in Rumualogu, Obio/Akpor council area of the state, when armed men double-crossed him, shot in the air and seized him and his car. They later abandoned the car, but Wali was spirited away in a speed boat.

His abduction has prompted the plea by the Ikeja and Lagos branches of the NBA to his abductors to release him immediately and unconditionally.

‘’As soon as the police got the information of the abduction of the ex-NBA president, we quickly swung into action where his vehicle was recovered along Ozuoba water front,’’ he said.

Muhammad said the police were on the trail of the kidnappers, to rescue Wali safely and apprehend the abductors.
