Argentine striker Carlos Tevez scored a brace and Alvaro Morata scored his first for Juventus as the Bianconeri came away from Atalanta with its perfect start to the Serie A season intact with a 3-0 victory.

The reigning league champions dominated first half proceedings and created goalscoring chances but failed to convert any for the first half-hour, with Tevez going closest to breaking the deadlock when his shot was spilled by the Atalanta keeper onto the post.

Tevez and Pogba both missed an Arturo Vidal ball across goal just after the half-hour mark, but Tevez eventually gave Juve the lead in the 35th minute, tapping in a Stephan Lichtsteiner cross which had evaded strike partner Fernando Llorente.

Llorente and Paul Pogba squandered opportunities to extend Juve’s lead moments after Tevez’s opener as the visitors settled for the single-goal lead going into the break.

Juventus continued to dominate play in the second half, with Vidal shooting just over. Atalanta however got presented with a golden opportunity to equalise just before the hour mark after German Denis was brought down in the Juve area by Giorgio Chiellini.

Denis however saw his penalty saved by Gianluigi Buffon, prompting a counterattack which ended with Patrice Evra setting up Tevez to make it 2-0 for the Bianconeri while substitute Morata sealed the win with the third seven minutes to the end.

The result keeps Juventus top of the Italian top flight with 15 points from five matches with no goals conceded, ahead of AS Roma on goal difference after the capital club got a 2-0 win at home to Hellas Verona thanks to goals from Alessandro Florenzi and Mattia Destro.
