The former governor also alleged that Governor Orji’s hatred and attack on him are traceable to the fact that he revealed to Abia people and Nigerians that some of the projects being signposted in the media were executed by his administration but repackaged by T.A. Orji for cheap political gains.

There is only one way to tackle a man who is suffering from amnesia. This is the state of permanent forgetfulness, whereby you cannot remember anything, even your name. That is what Orji Uzor Kalu is suffering from. Otherwise, how can he say we are repackaging his non-existing achievements? You are from TheNEWS magazine; if go back and he comes to you and publishes five monuments, institutions, buildings that he built in Umuahia for the eight years he bestrode Abia State, I will resign as the Commissioner for Information.

If you can go to Orji Uzor Kalu and he is able to get you the photographs of five projects he executed in Umuahia, I will resign. Then I will present to you over 100 solid projects built by Governor T.A. Orji between 2010 and now. What did we repackage? The Civil Service secretariat in Umuahia was built by the military and bequeathed to the civilian government. He was here for eight years and Orji Uzor Kalu could not build a kiosk for Abia civil servants. Achike Udenwa built secretariat for civil servants in Imo, he is [Kalu’s] contemporary.

Chimaroke Nnamani built Law School conference centre at Independence Layout, drainages and others. Victor Obong Attah built solid structures in compliance with the state’s master plan before he started fighting for resource control. Tell me one positive thing that you can associate with Orji Uzor Kalu if not confusion, opportunistic and despotic rule of one man? After 22 years of existence of a state, is it not interesting to note that Abia never had a secretariat?

Governor T.A Orji was the only one who has built for Abia people the first set of twin four-storey buildings with double elevators for Abia people as a state secretariat in Umuahia. Orji Uzor Kalu, who claims he has criss-crossed the length and breadth of the world, a cosmopolitan person, could not build a significant building for Abia people with an elevator! Governor Orji has built more than 10 secretariats for civil servants in the state. Does it interest you that under Orji Uzor Kalu’s watch we had no general hospital, not even a decrepit one.

The ones he inherited he never expanded. But Governor Orji has built a brand new 900-bed hospital with dialysis centre, ophthalmological centre that is world class, several ambulances donated for each of the local government areas. With less than 200 health centres Orji Kalu inherited from the military regimes, under Governor Orji, we now have 710 health centres. There is power in comparative analysis.

In eight years of Orji Kalu’s administration he claimed he built five roads in Aba. He did not mention one. But one of the roads from Osisioma junction to Aba did not have potholes but craters. Did you people not experience it whenver you visited Aba? It took commuters three hours to get to Aba. Under T.A. Orji, we have a brand new road asphalted that takes about 10 minutes to Aba from Osisioma junction.

Kalu told some people that he performed so marvellously that former President Obasanjo called him ‘action Governor’. Simple analysis and known standards is that well constructed and asphalted road is supposed to be durable for about 15 years. As we speak, some of the roads the Sam Mbakwe government did when we were in old Imo state are still motorable. Could it therefore mean that he has been showcasing Sam Mbakwe’s roads in his national daily?
