LMC Puts Nigerian League on Hold

The League Management Company (LMC) has decided to put matchday 26 fixtures of the Nigeria Premier League on hold due to a boycott of all Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) organised matches by the National Referees Association (NRA).

In a statement, the LMC Chief Operating Officer Salihu Abubakar said the ”notice of withdrawal of services” by the referees makes it impossible for the LMC to organise league matches.

As a result, the LMC have informed clubs in the Premier League and sponsorship partners of the matter and also advised the clubs not to proceed to venues of their respective matches ”until further communication.”

The referees’ boycott comes as a result of the administrative crisis at the NFF, which has seen FIFA give a September 1 ultimatum for the Glass House to put its affairs in order or risk being suspended.
