Super Falconets forward Asisat Oshoala has been handed the Adidas Golden Ball award as best player of the just concluded FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Canada.

Oshoala was given the award ahead of French duo Griedge Mbock Bathy who was given the Silver Ball and Claire Lavogez who settled for the Bronze Ball as third best player of the competition.

Oshoala was the star of Nigeria’s team which made it all the way to the final only to lose 1-0 after extra-time to Germany, finishing the competition as top scorer with seven goals to claim the Adidas Golden Boot award as well.

Her seven goals also made her Nigeria’s all-time leading goalscorer in the competition, surpassing the five goals scored by veteran Cynthia Uwak as well as Ebere Orji and Desire Oparanozie.

Meanwhile, hosts Canada won the FIFA Fair Play award and Germany’s Maike Kamper went home with the Adidas Golden Glove award as best goalkeeper of the competition after posting an 82% save rate in her six matches for the world champions.
