World football governing body FIFA have lifted the suspension from all football activities placed on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) due to government interference.

The decision by FIFA comes after Aminu Maigari was reinstated as chairman of the NFF following the nullification of a court injunction which kept the NFF executive from administration.

A statement on the FIFA website read ”As statutory order has been reinstated at the NFF and the legitimate bodies reinstalled, FIFA has decided to lift the suspension as of today, Friday 18 July 2014.”

Furthermore ”The lifting of the suspension means that all rights of the NFF as a FIFA member as defined in article 12 of the FIFA Statutes are reinstated.”

The withdrawn suspension also allows for the Nigerian U-20 women’s national team to take part in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup starting August 5 in Canada.

It also allows the men’s U-17 national team to play DR Congo in a rescheduled first leg qualifying match for the 2015 CAF U-17 Championship originally scheduled for July 20 but moved to July 27 by CAF before the suspension was lifted.
