Lagos – All old LAGBUS tickets in circulation will cease to be valid after June 30, the managers said on Thursday.

Mr Babatunde Disu, the Managing Director of the LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd., operators of LAGBUS metro buses, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Disu said that LAGBUS ticketing officers across Lagos State would stop collecting old tickets from passengers on the date.

He advised commuters to exhaust all old tickets on them on or before June 30 but urged ticketing officers not to reject the old tickets before July 1.

“All old LAGBUS tickets in circulation will cease to be valid for any LAGBUS journey on our routes by July 1.

“We urge our customers to use up all the old tickets on them on or before that date.

“We also urge our intending passengers to buy tickets only for immediate journeys as against the past tradition of buying tickets in bulk.” Disu said.

He said that the company would from July 1 only accept its newly introduced tickets which replaced the old ones which had been in place since Feb. 17, 2007.

“We need to change our tickets to enhance the ongoing re-branding of our services.

“Our drivers, ground staff and ticketing officers are always undergoing training and re-training,

“Our buses are undergoing refurbishment, and we are replacing the old ones; all these are geared toward offering better services to the public,” Disu said.

The LAGBUS boss appealed to intending passengers to always handle the new tickets with care.

They must also keep their own copies of the tickets throughout their journeys for presentation to inspectors on request.
