Nigeria’s U20 national team this evening made it through to the final round of the 2015 Africa Youth Championship after a 4-1 second leg win over Tanzania in Kaduna sealed a 6-1 aggregate score.

The Flying Eagles had beat Tanzania 2-0 in Dar-es-Salaam a fortnight ago and an early strike from Ibrahim Alhassan set Manu Garba’s boys on their way.

Badan Hassan had equalised soon after for Tanzania but further goals in the first half from Musa Yahaya and Taiwo Awoniyi put Nigeria 3-1 up by half-time before substitute Chidera Ezeh completed the rout with Nigeria’s fourth late in the second half.

Elsewhere, Malawi came away from Kinshasha with a 2-0 win over DR Congo to reach the final round of AYC qualification with a 3-1 aggregate win while Gabon edged Rwanda 1-0 on aggregate.

Ghana’s Black Starlets beat Sierra Leone 2-1 to complete a 4-1 aggregate win while Egypt claimed a 5-0 aggregate win over Sudan, with the Young Pharaohs beating their north African neighbours 2-0 in Cairo.

Seven nations will qualify for the Africa Youth Championship holding next year, joining Senegal who have qualified already as host nation.

Meanwhile in Kigali, the Super Falcons of Nigeria came away with a 4-1 win over Rwanda in the first leg of their final qualifying round match for the 2014 Africa Women’s Championship which will take place in Namibia.
