Atletico Madrid Shock Barça to Win La Liga Title

Atletico Madrid have claimed their first Spanish league title in 18 years after coming from behind to get a hard-fought 1-1 draw against second placed Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

Alexis Sanchez fired Barcelona ahead in the 33rd minute with a fierce volley but Diego Godin got Atletico back on level terms four minutes into the second half.

Playing without Diego Costa and Arda Turan, who were forced off in the opening 20 minutes due to injuries, Atletico held off a Barcelona barrage for the rest of the second half to finish three points ahead of the Catalans and win the league.

With the league title now won, Atletico have the chance of claiming a historic double when they face city rivals Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final next week Saturday.
