Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State has denied ever begging the national leadership of his former party, the People Democratic Party, PDP, to readmit him as claimed by his former Chief of Staff and the Supervising Minister for Education, Nyesom Wike.

The Governor dismissed Wike’s claim as tissue of lies. He said he will never go back because he has found himself among the progressives in All Progressive Congress, APC, rather, he said, he had been approached by the leadership to return to the party but he turned it down.

That young man (Wike) should not be taken seriously. “If I decide to go back to PDP will they not organise a dance party in celebration? One of the virtues of leadership is as a Minister, Governor or President that whatever you say should be factual and credible. PDP is a foregone issue. I have moved on”.

Amaechi made these revelations while fielding questions from a cross section of Journalists in state today on the sidelines of the UNESCO award to Port Harcourt as the World Book capital City.

Governor Amaechi also used the opportunity to deny the allegation by the opposition that his administration was borrowing money so it leaves heavy financial burden on the state.

He clarified that Rivers state was not among the states that are indebted as exemplified in the recently published list of indebted states. He said the state government has been able to service its debts with the 8 Billion Naira Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

He wondered why banks continues to pester the state Government for credit facilities.
