121 abducted school girls rescued

Nigeria defence forces said late Wednesday that it has freed 121 of the 129 female students abducted at a Girls’ College in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State on Monday by men suspected to be members of insurgent group, Boko Haram.

Major General Chris Olukolade, Director of Defence Information said in a statement that only eight of the abducted girls are yet to be found.

The Army General said the principal of the school where the girls were abducted had also confirmed that only eight of her students were still missing.

Olukolade said: “More students of the GGSS Chibok have been freed this evening in the ongoing Search and Rescue operations to free the abducted students.

“With this development, the Principal of the school confirmed that only eight of the students are still missing.

“One of the terrorists who carried out the attack on the school has also been captured,” said Olukolade.
