Medizone Limited, a UK-based healthcare provider dedicated to proactive and preventative care, made history on Saturday, April 4, when it hosted Nigeria’s first Advanced Aesthetic Technology Symposium at The Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Tagged “The Aesthetics Show Lagos 2026”, the symposium brought together medical professionals, clinic founders, industry innovators, and tastemakers to set a new standard for aesthetic medicine in Africa. It was indeed a significant moment for aesthetic medicine in Africa.
The day opened with a closed scientific session for medical professionals in which over 70 local and international clinicians, dermatologists, and medical practitioners took attendees through some of the most advanced aesthetic technologies available globally, such as Lumenis, Sofwave, UltraClear, Wonder, Hydrafacial, Classys, Fotofinder, Opatra London, and Mirapeel.
Speakers broke down the science and clinical application behind treatments such as laser hair removal, body sculpting, muscle treatment, skin exfoliation and rejuvenation, acne treatment, wrinkle and fine line reduction, neck lifting, reverse ageing, and collagen stimulation.
Thus delivering the kind of applied clinical education that has historically required travelling to international conferences. The session closed with a raffle draw, with lucky winners walking away with skin treatments valued at up to $3,600.
The event also went beyond the medical community, for as it transitioned into a cocktail reception in the evening, celebrities such as. Genevieve Nnaji, Daddy Freeze, and Eku Edewor registered their presence, thus signaling how the conversation around aesthetic medicine has gained pubic acceptance and moved into mainstream society.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Hamza Arisekola Alao, Chief Executive of Medizone, said care must always come before commerce, as advanced aesthetic technology is not simply a philosophy but a practice standard.
“The expansion of aesthetic medicine across Africa presents a real opportunity. But growth without governance is a risk, not an achievement,” he noted, as he called on practitioners across the continent to commit to clinical excellence grounded in evidence, patient safety that is non-negotiable, and sustainable growth as the defining pillars of aesthetic medicine’s future in Africa.
Freda Edewor Francis, Director of Medizone and Founder and CEO of Oasis Medspa, brought a perspective shaped by years of building in the Nigerian aesthetic medicine space.
“I have watched this industry grow from something people whispered about to something the entire continent is paying attention to,” she said, adding that the demands are real, the practitioners are ready. For too long, the infrastructure has not caught up. “That changes today,” she maintained.
The summit’s faculty included Dr. Pranav Pancholi, Key Opinion Leader, Sofwave Medical; Dr. Brooke Taylor, International Clinical Trainer and Practice Growth Consultant, Sofwave Medical;
Dr. Ravraj Sirha, Sales Director, Aesthetics Africa; Dr. Benjamin White, EVP International Business Development, Acclaro Medical; and Dr. Felix Avajah, President, Association of Practitioners of Spa and Medical Aesthetics of Nigeria.
It is instructive to note that the “Aesthetics Show Lagos 2026” is arriving at a moment of significant momentum for the African aesthetic medicine market. The Middle East and Africa aesthetics devices market is projected to reach $1.49 billion by 2033, growing at nearly 11% per year, and Nigeria, with its expanding middle class, rising consumer sophistication, and increasingly capable medical workforce, sits squarely at the centre of that growth.
The Aesthetics Show is positioning Nigeria not merely as a participant in the global aesthetics industry but as a hub for its advancement across the continent.
