ECOWAS Chairman, Maada Bio, Arrives Munich for Sahel Security Summit

ECOWAS Chairman, Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio, is in Munich, Germany, to attend the 62nd edition of the Munich Security Summit on Sahel and West Africa.

The security situation in the zone has reached an alarming dimension, with growing fears that it may snowball to other neighbouring countries in the region.

The European Union (EU) and other development partners are bankrolling the summit.

Chairman of the Munich summit, Wolfgang Ischinger, and distinguished speakers, including Joao Gomes Cravinho, both Germans and EU senior officials, are set to achieve a successful outcome of the growing security threat in the Sahel region. The EU sees security problems in the region as a global menace.

Bio’s Munich meet is the prime pedestal of his previous diplomatic engagements of securing a lasting solution to the menace since he took over from Nigeria’s President Tinubu as ECOWAS Chairman.
