The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has reiterated its commitment to training no fewer than 10,000 young Nigerians in high-demand skills for the country’s oil and gas industry.
Mr Jeffrey Omede of NCDMB, who disclosed this on Friday at the grand finale and certificate issuance ceremony for 50 participants in the Community Youth Employment Training programme, to promote local content development, enhance employability, and foster self-reliance among Nigerian youths.
The training programme, which focused on baking and confectionery through combining classroom instruction, hands-on practical sessions, and on-the-job training, was jointly sponsored by NCDMB and Hedgerow Oil & Gas.
Omede noted that NCDMB, under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Ogbe has been working tirelessly to develop the skills of Nigerian youths to prepare them for the demands of the industry.
While highlighting commitment to transforming the narratives and positioning the youth of the Niger Delta region for success, he described it as a testament to the Board’s commitment to human capital development, which he said aligns with the Nigerian government’s goal of building a $1 trillion economy and promoting local content development.
“By empowering young Nigerians with valuable skills, the NCDMB and Hedgerow Oil & Gas are contributing to the social and economic development of the community.
“The certificate issuance ceremony marks a significant milestone in the lives of these 50 participants, who are now equipped to pursue careers in baking and confectionery or start their own businesses.
“This comprehensive approach ensures that participants acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, making them more employable and self-reliant,” he said
