A new Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has assumed duty in Kogi State. He resumed on Wednesday, with a call on the people of the state to co-operate with the police in its responsibility to combat crimes and protect their lives and property.

Kankarofi made the call during his maiden press briefing at the Kogi Police Command’s Headquarters in Lokoja on Wednesday.

“I will not relent in living up to expectations in the protection of lives and property as well as maintenance of Law and Order as provided by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”

He also pleaded with the people of the state to always report suspicious movements within their immediate communities.

He promised to encourage the community policing policy, which, according to him, will go a long way in complementing the efforts of the Police to tackle crimes and criminalities across the country.

The Police Boss further gave an assurance to ensure proper synergy with the other sister security agencies in his bid to flush out criminal elements in the state.

He acknowledged the assurances of governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to give him the needed support to succeed in his new assignment.

He also thanked the Inspector-General of Police for finding him worthy to serve as Commissioner of Police in Kogi State with a promise not to abuse the opportunity.
