My Mission At LACRA – Dan Saryee

 

He is a distinguished professional, with over two decades of expertise in politics, development advocacy and community empowerment.

Prior to his new appointment to head the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority, LACRA, Dan Torkamawon Saryee, headed many civil society organisations, notably, National Democratic Institute, Institute for Research, Democratic Development IREDD, among others, where he stood tall due to his sterling records, both in Liberia and abroad.

He was part of the transition monitoring group, TMG in Nigeria, during General Abdulsalami Abubakar transition government, after the death of Sanni Abacha between 1998 to 1999.

My Mission At LACRA

Dan Saryee is building on what his predecessor, Christopher Sankolo, who was suspended a few weeks ago, left behind, but with new strategies and methodologies.

He revealed that he intends to build a vibrant entity by ensuring all regulatory policies governing the production, processing and export of cocoa, coffee and palm oil are fully implemented.

His other mission is to increase revenues for LACRA through adding value to the agricultural commodities before export. This is not only a revenue stream, but will create employment opportunities for young Liberians, in tandem with President Boakai’s development agenda.

Another mission of Saryee is to improve commodity value chains by providing up-to-date farming tools, fertiliser and technical facilities, to beef up production. He intends to reach out to farmers and cooperatives in the cocoa, coffee and oil palm value chains to further empower them.

Another mission is to strengthen partnership and collaboration with similar organisations in the West African Region and beyond, particularly in capacity building.

He could not leave out his staff morale  on his mission as he intends to beef up staff productivity through regular training.

LACRA replaced the defunct LPMC   (Liberia Produce Marketing Company), which was once headed by incumbent President Boakai.

With his civil society background, Dan Saryee will bring in a principled posture to LACRA.

As he had excelled in his previous assignments, both in Liberia, Nigeria and in other countries, where he left behind a sound track record, Dan Saryee is ready to be impactful at LACRA, an entity President Boakai, as a former head, is keenly passionate to grow.

Agriculture is the first pillar of President Boakai’s ARREST agenda, and LACRA forms a cardinal focus and an auxiliary to elevate the ARREST program.

The task is huge, and Dan Saryee is aware of the task and seems determined to accomplish it, given his past track records.
