Liberia has successfully secured a United Nations UN Security Council Seat for the years 2026 to 2027.
This is in recognition of the country’s resilience, commitment to peace and dedication to global cooperation.
It is also for the country’s unique roles in the formation of the League of Nations, a founding father of Africa’s independence, and ECOWAS.
From the ashes and ruins of war, to successful and unbroken, peaceful elections, Liberia, today, stands tall in the comity of nations.
President Joseph Boakai addressed the nation yesterday, showering encomiums on the country for its deserved status at the UN Security Council.
He commended the people’s resilience and determination to maintain peace.
Liberia is the oldest African republic. It will celebrate its 178th independence anniversary on July 26, 2025.
Since coming to power in October 2023, President Boakai has embarked on numerous reforms that have beefed up revenues and has embarked on an anti-corruption crusade, particularly in minimising ghost workers and racketeering in government services.
