The Kogi State government has given approval for punitive measures, including non-payment of the salary of any of its top officials who refused to attend an ongoing leadership retreat in the state.

This was disclosed by Mrs Arike Ayoade, Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, who represented Governor Usman Ododo, during the opening ceremony of the retreat in Lugard House, Lokoja on Thursday.

At the retreat, themed “The Advance New Direction for Continuity and Consolidation to Strategic Development,” the governor urged the participants to imbibe transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in their roles to enhance good governance and public trust.

He reaffirmed that his administration’s focus on productivity and infrastructure is designed to lay a solid foundation for the state’s transformation.

“Our collective efforts must now focus on positioning the state for greater accomplishments. That is why I have appointed capable individuals to help drive this administration forward.”Ododo stated.

The governor expressed confidence that the retreat would strengthen the leadership and ministerial capacity of the participants, fostering collaboration and ensuring sustainable progress.

“Together, we can achieve significant strides for the betterment of Kogi State,” he assured and further urged the appointees to seize the opportunity of the retreat to contribute to the state’s accelerated development
