The Anglican Bishop of Nike Diocese in Enugu State, Rt. Rev. Jonathan Ibeagha, says there is need for partnership between religious organisations and government to move education forward in the country.

Ibeagha made the appeal on Thursday while speaking at the 2nd Inter-House Sports Competition of Bishop Otubelu Nursery and Primary School, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.

The Bishop, who was represented by his Administrative Secretary, Ven. Benjamin Chinemelu, described mission schools as critical government partners in the academic and moral moulding of children’s characters.

He urged government at all levels to always extend adequate financial and other logistics support to mission schools to make them more efficient and result-oriented in order to produce disciplined children.

Ibeagha congratulated the management, staff and pupils of the school for a successful outing.

“The inter-house sports competition has been enriching, worthwhile and very interesting,’’ he said.

The Bishop urged parents who would like their children to blossom into adulthood to get them to the school.

In a welcome address, the Head Teacher of the school, Mrs Gladys Nwosu, noted that since the inception of the mission school in 2010, the school had been growing in leaps and bounds academically, physically, socially and otherwise.

“Today, we are marking our 2nd inter-house sports competition.

“This is to ensure that the third domain of education which is the psycho-motto domain is not neglected; for all works and no play makes Jack a dull boy and Jill a dull girl,’’ she said.

The school has four houses, which include: blue, red, yellow and orange, that competed in various track and field events such as 100 and 200 metres sprint, sack race, colour sorting and dressing up for school, among others.
