Gov. Umaru Tanko-Almakura of Nasarawa State has urged traditional rulers and religious leaders to sustain peace and stability education to their subjects to engender meaningful development of the state.

Al-Makura made the call on Thursday when royal fathers from Nasarawa North Senatorial District visited him at Government House, Lafia.

He urged the monarchs to be vigilant and sustain the peace prevailing in the state, adding that they should be “security watchdogs’’ in their domains and the state.

The governor said that his administration would always accord premium to all sections of the society in the interest of peace and development.

He commended people of the senatorial district for the unity and maturity they exhibited, which led to the area producing the governor-elect in the state.

“When you met me and appealed for Nasarawa North senatorial district to produce the next governor, I said you should also know that we are in democracy where everyone has the right to vote and voted for.

“I also advise you to go and appeal to people across the state as a sense of reasoning and brotherhood of our people who have human face, for one of your sons to become governor of the state.

“God has made it possible for one of your sons to emerge as the governor for the first time in the History of Nasarawa state,’’ he said.

Al-Makura congratulated the traditional rulers for actualising the governorship ambition.

Earlier, Alhaji Musa Nagogo, Orinye Rindre, who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers, had said that they were in Government House to appreciate Al-Makura for his support to the zone in actualising the governorship goal.
