The Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnics, Dr Samson Odedina has charged lecturers of the Institution to focus on their teaching rather than the salaries being owed them by the state government.
Dr Odedina who said this while declaring the second Annual retreat of the institution Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Mapoly chapter open held in Abeokuta the state capital of Ogun state said the management of the institution were also being owed salaries.
“Everybody in the management including the civil servant are in the same shoes, but we should not let that affect our morale in teaching the students.”
“There is no controversy on the non payment of salaries as the normal activities is going on in the campus, we are following Governor Ibikunle Amosun on the moving of the campus to Ipokia and tuition of the institution is not going to be increased.
“We are also working with circular from the ministry of education on a mission to provide quality education for the people of Ogun and outsiders. Everything is well documented and reported on moving of Mapoly to Ipokia,
“On this note I want to enjoin our lectures to focus on their teaching in spite of salaries been owed because the state government is working on it and it will soon be paid,” Odedina said.
He commended the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics for putting up the retreat, while identifying himself as a member of the association who is also suffering over unpaid salary.
The chapter chairman of the association, Comrade Kola Abiola on behalf of the executives and teeming members of the association thanked the guests who made it to the event.
Also, he lauded members of the association to concentrate on the teaching, despite the salaries being owed them by the Ogun State government.
In attendance at the event were the National Vice President, Comrade Timothy Oluwalogbon Ogunseye who represented the National body of the association, Comrade Olawale Olatunji, the Zone Coordinator of ASUP, Mr Steven Akpadu among others.
Award was presented to all the past chairmen of the association by the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Samson Odedina in recognition of their selfless services.
