The people of Akpo community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra have endorsed the candidates of Young Peoples Party (YPP) and resolved to deliver them in February general elections.

The community declared their position during the formal declaration of Chief Godwin Ezeno, candidate of the YPP for Aguata 1 constituency in the Anambra House of Assembly in Akpo on Thursday.

Other candidates are Chief Ifeanyi Ubah and Prof. Kingsley Muoghalu, who are running for Anambra South Senatorial District and President.

The people who prayed for Ezeno also unveiled him to the constituency, declared him the best candidate in the race.

A chieftain of the party, Mr Sunday Ezenwata, said Ezeno had demonstrated good leadership as a community leader and should be voted massively to represent the constituency.

Ezenwata said the party has given Nigerians the best candidates at all levels and called urged the people to vote for them in the interest of overall development and prosperity.

On his part, Mr Chidi Dim, Chairman of Ogbo Development Union, said equity favoured Akpo as the last time they had a shot at the seat was during the short-lived democratic experiment in 1992.

Dim, who expressed confidence in the ability of Ezeno to bring the dividends of democracy to the people, urged him to address the individual and collective needs of the towns in the constituency.

The towns in Aguata 1 constituency inlcude Achina, Amesi, Akpo, Umuchu, Uga and Mkpologwu.

In his response, Ezeno thanked his kinsmen for their overwhelming home support and promised to change the face of legislation for the constituency.

The candidate said his project would be informed by the demands of the constituency which would be aggregated through regular town hall meetings.

“I am not a desperate young man, I am an accomplished man, my journey to Anambra State House of Assembly is not to make money because it is late, rather I am going there to work genuinely for Aguata 1 and leave a legacy that will endure when I am gone,” he said.

Ezeno said he took to YPP to realise his good ambition, describing his ordeal in the hands of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as most unfortunate.

He thanked his teeming supporters who kept faith with him and urged them work for his resounding victory, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

According to him, APGA denied Akpo and Mkpologwu ticket against the accepted consensus of Aguata South people who agreed that the two towns should take a shot.

He expressed confidence that APGA candidate for the constituency would be roundly defeated, adding that the glory days of his former party had left it after it conducted primary elections that did not reflect the popularity of the candidates.

He urged the electorate to endeavour to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (P VCs) to enable them to cast their votes massively for YPP candidates, appealing to them to guard against rigging.
