The Ogun State chapter of Hope Democratic Party (HDP) has called on Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)  to probe Gov IbIkunle Amosun over use of loans he has collected since his inception of office.

HDP made this call in a statement signed by the party’s State Chairman, Olanirewaju Kazim and the state Secretary,  Mrs Olajumoke Azeez read at a press conference in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
The statement read thus: “We are gathered here today to inform members of the general public that the future of our dear state, Ogun looks bleak in view of the recent revelation emanating from the Debt Management Office in Abuja.
“We have it on good source that the incoming administration that will be storming come May 2019,would have been incapacitated and rendered useless due to the huge debt which the outgoing administration have incurred.
“The plethora of road construction projects executed by the administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun State was carried out without due process. Reasons for this are premises on the fact that those road construction projects particularly the bridges were awarded without following the due processes.
“Tender’s board were absenT, hence the project cost were not announced.
“Also we have been informed that the Chinese construction Company which executed most of these construction projects are already planning to take over them and also toll those roads as done in some other African Countries. “
HDP further stated that one of the most disturbing information on the use of the loan is the on-going construction of the giant shopping centre whose ownership is still shrouded in secrecy.
“Source close to the seat of government in Okemosan, Abeokuta, have confided in our party that the Ibikunle Amosun led administration in the State has signed an MOU with a Chinese company that will take over the ownership of the said ShopRite after Completion.
“As genuine stakeholders in the Gateway, we are however compelled to ask some questions which are very critical and germane to the survival of Ogun as a state even the exit of Amosun as the governor.
“What is the total debt profile of this state? Can Amosun tell us the cost of all the projects he has someone the state?  Who owns the shop rite under construction opposite NUJ secretariat? How many of those road construction project executed for the state by the Chinese company CCECC have Amosun signed out to the company to collect toll due to the inability to pay the cost charged?
“On this note we wish to inform the general public of Ogun that Gov Amosun is on the verge of running away from the country immediately after the presidential elections because he knew his anointed candidate of Allied People’s Movement(APM) Hon Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade cannot win the forthcoming governorship election on the state.
“We therefore we call on President Muhammad Buhari to direct EFCC to probe the finances of Ogun State before May 29, when another administration will be taken over if truly our president is engaged in corruption crusade.”
