Ex-governor Ibrahim Idris

A former Governor of Kogi State and state co-ordinator of Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has felicitated with the Muslim ulama and other Nigerians for witnessing this year’s Eid-el Maulud. He urged Muslims to use the occasion for deep meditation and prayers for the success of the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

Idris made this known in a goodwill Sallah message issued by his media office in Lokoja yesterday. The former governor noted that the Eid-el-Maulud is a festival that commemorates the birth of the holy Prophet Muhammed and counseled Nigerians to use the period for emulating the life of the prophet and spiritual rebirth.

“This is a critical period in the life of our dear country. Political tensions are understandably high. I urge us the shelve our differences, reflect on the things that unite as a people and pray for peace and growth of the country and that God himself will make only people he has chosen to emerge as leaders in the elections. We cannot help ourselves. We need Allah to help us.” The statement says.

The elder-statesman urged Nigerians to shun ‘electoral violence’ and embrace the virtues of love, peace and good conduct before, during and after the elections, noting that “no society can grow when there is no peace.”
