Mr Stephen Dogo, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperative, Nasarawa state, has advised civil servants to imbibe saving culture to be able to plan ahead of their retirement.
Dogo gave the advice during the inauguration of Precious FM Staff Multipurpose and Cooperative Society on Friday in Lafia.
He underscored the importance of saving by civil servants, urging them to avoid unnecessary spending to enable them to adequately plan for the future.
The permanent secretary, who was represented by a senior staff of the ministry, Mr Musa Andrew, told the cooperative members to always keep accurate records of their transactions.
Mr Kalu Idika, the Chairman of the society, expressed joy over the support from members and appealed them not to relent.
Idika advised the cooperators to always repay loans collected from the society in good time to help the organisation to grow.
He reiterated the call on the workers to embrace saving culture, saying that “the only close place to run to in time of need is staff cooperative”.
The General Manager of Precious FM, Musa Abdullahi, represented by Dono Ikume, a senior official of the organisation, thanked members for contributing toward their own welfare.
Abdullahi urged them to sustain their commitment toward the growth and progress of the society.
