Hajia Aisha Alhassan, the Minister of Women Affairs has resigned from the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari

Daily Nigerian reports that the resignation of the Minister followed following her disqualification by the All Progressives Congress, APC from contesting in the gubernatorial primary of Taraba State.

Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of APC told journalists on Friday that the minister was disqualified because her loyalty to the ruling party was doubtful.

In her letter of resignation published by DAILY NIGERIAN, the Minister, popularly known as ‘Mama Taraba,, however said  she no reason had been communicated to her by the APC for her disqualification from the governorship primary.

The Minister also insisted that she “had always been a very committed party member and was at no time queried or admonished for any wrong doing or unconstitutional behaviour.”

“I write with a lot of respect to inform Mr President of my decision to resign my appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as a member of the All Progressives Congress APC).”

“Up to the time of writing this letter, no reason was given by the Party for my disqualification to contest election under the APC,” the letter reads in part.
