Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has finally returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ortom who was elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC announced his return during a meeting with local government chairmen and councillors on Wednesday at the Government House, Makurdi.

Some youth had earlier invaded Government House and  barred the governor from traveling to Abuja to attend a scheduled reconciliation meeting intended to stop him from defection to PDP with national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole.

The announcement ends speculation of the governor eventual return to the PDP as a result of his disagreement with leaders of the APC in Benue and at the national level.

Ortom who served as Minister of State of Industry, Trade and Investment during the President Goodluck Jonathan administration joined the APC from the PDP ahead the 2015 elections.

He was director of operations of the PDP gubernatorial campaign in Benue State in 2007.

He also served as director of administration and logistics of the Goodluck/Sambo Presidential Campaign Organization in 2011 and was a former national auditor of the PDP.
