Saudi authorities on Tuesday executed five people convicted of murdering a Pakistani national in the west of the kingdom.
The two Saudis and three Chadian nationals executed stabbed a Pakistani guard and hit him on the head with a stick with the aim of robbing a depot he worked for in the city of Jeddah, the Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The statement gave no details when the alleged murder took place.
The authorities in the conservative kingdom executed 64 people in 2018, including the five killings announced on Tuesday. As many as 122 people were executed in 2017 and 144 in 2016.
The executions in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, are carried out by beheading with sword or shooting.(dpa/NAN)
