The Heartminders flagship project, ‘Heartminders Action Against Rape and Sexual Abuse’, HAAROSA is organising a sensitization walk where it will distribute flyers and talk to the general public about rape, child abuse, domestic violence etc. This year’s edition of HAAROSA is coming up on Saturday, 24th February 2018. The aim of HAAROSA is to break the silence and take a stand against sexual violence by coming together and raising awareness, educating communities about the resources available in the aftermath of an assault and seeking justice for victims.

The aim of HAAROSA is to break the silence and take a stand against sexual violence by coming together and raising awareness, educating communities about the resources available in the aftermath of an assault and seeking justice for victims.

In the past, the group collaborated with the United Nations Information Centre Lagos, different ministries of Lagos state government and Mirabel centre.

About Heartminders Societal Advancement Initiative

The Heartminders project was conceived with the aim of creating a better and healthier society. That, according to the NGO boss, Funke Okuntuga, “we set out to achieve by teaching sex education in Lagos schools, organise campaigns and seminars on rape and sexual violence, building and mending relationships to reduce the trending occurrence of domestic violence, broken homes, homes and relationships which has been increasing at a geometric progression rate.”

“To achieve our aim, we work with psychologists, marriage counselors, medical practitioners while mending relationships and marriages, we educate and provide reliable information proven to be effective in preventing HIV/AIDS infections, other STI’s and unwanted pregnancies to youths and young adults across the country through the power and reach of the electronic media (TV, Radio, internet and text messaging platforms).”
