The Ogun State government has called on well-meaning indigenes and stakeholders of the State to collaborate with it at raising the standard of education in order to provide qualitative education for the people.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota who made the call at the unveiling of perimeter fence and a newly constructed gate-house donated by the Old Students of Obanta Comprehensive High School, Awa in Ijebu-North Local Government Area of the State, said that government was ever ready to welcome genuine supports from investors, philanthropists and other stakeholders at repositioning the sector.
The Commissioner, represented by the Director of Secondary Schools, Mrs. Bosede Ogunleye, applauded the donors for embarking on the projects that would make the environment more conducive for the students and teachers as well as curb truancy and ensure security.
‘’This is indeed a wonderful step as it will drastically reduce the incessant students misbehaviours and curb lateness. These facilities should be well utilized and maintained,’’ she said.
In his remarks, National President of the Association, Mr. Sola Lawal, said the gesture was aimed at collaborating with the State government on its agenda at improving educational standard in the State.
He added that the Association believed that government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of providing qualitative education to all and sundry, assuring that the old student association would continue to assist the school in achieving its set goals.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Principal of the School, Mrs Adeboye Adeniyi commended the State government for the giant strides at improving the standard of education in the State, soliciting more blocks of class rooms to improve learning.
