Interparty Advisory Council To Hold Election On 21 August

The Interparty Advisory Council (IPAC) an umbrella body for all registered political parties in Nigeria will hold its annual election on the 21st of August, 2017.

According to the outgoing National Chairman of IPAC, Alhaji Mohammad Nalado, 45 registered political parties are participating in the forthcoming election.

The National Chairman of the Accord Party further made it known that the following offices are open to contestants: Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Secretary, Financial Secretary, Organizing Secretary and the Legal Adviser.

The last two positions (organizing secretary and the legal adviser) were recently added during the last review of the body’s code of Conduct.

Also amended is the duration of tenure to be used by elected officials in the Council. Before the review of the IPAC Code of Conduct, IPAC elected officials were using only one year in office, but that has now changed to two years.

The proposed venue of the election is INEC headquarters in Abuja.

Alhaji Nalado further promised that the selected committee would deliver a free, fair and transparent elections, with the winners and losers embracing each other
