The Federal Ministry of Sports on Thursday in Abuja, said it had postponed indefinitely the re-run elections of five affected federations.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that five federations were expected to hold re-run elections into their various boards on Thursday after issues were raised about the credibility of the initial elections on June 13.

The affected federations are Athletics, Judo, Gymnastics, Weightlifting and Taekwando.

Also, Rugby which elections were cancelled previously was expected to take part in the re-run elections.

Tolu Makinde, the Ministry’s Director of Press who made the announcement at the National Stadium, said the postponement was due to “circumstances beyond their control.”
