The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Jos Zonal Command, said it had recorded three deaths in 20 crashes during its last Eid-el-fitr special patrol in the area.

The Commanding Officer in charge of the Zone, Mr Jonas Agwu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Jos.

According to him Agwu, the special patrol which spanned between June 23 and June 28, recorded 37 vehicles that were involved in the various accidents that left 57 persons seriously injured.

“From the report available from the Sallah special patrol, we have recorded 3 deaths in 20 crashes, that involved 37 vehicles within Jos.

“We were able to rescue 101 persons from the various crashes but 57 of them were seriously injured, ” he said.

The commanding officer, however, said the number of accidents recorded during the 2017 Eid-el-fitr period was less compared to that of 2016.

He attributed the success to the resilience and commitment of his men to ensure the safety of lives and property.

He commended motorists for cooperating with the Corps during the festive period and urged for more so as to make the roads safer for all.
