A Jos Magistrates’  Court on Wednesday sentenced a labourer, Ismail Mohammed,  to one month imprisonment for wearing a camouflage uniform  and impersonating a military  personnel.

Mohammed, a resident of Tudun Wada in Jos, Plateau, was sentenced  after pleading  guilty and begging  the court for leniency.

The Prosecutor,  Cpl. Bashiru Karimu, had earlier  told the court that on Jan. 30,  the security outfit, Operation Safe Heaven on  Bauchi Road, had  reported the case at  the A Division police station.

He said his men had arrested the accused on the same day at Hammas GSM plaza on  Ahmadu Bello Way in  Jos wearing the military  outfit.

The prosecutor said that when the accused was accosted, he claimed to be a military personnel serving in Imo.

He said that during police investigation, the suspect confessed that he was not a  military personnel.

The offence, the prosecutor  said, was  contrary to Section 130 of the Penal Code Law.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Helen Danboyi, sentenced Mohammed to one month imprisonment. (NAN)
