Ex-Jonathan’s aide leads 2000 PDP defectors to APC in Lagos

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Ecology, Chief Bode Oyedele, has led two key Peoples Democratic Party leaders in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, and additional 2000 party faithfuls to the All Progressives Congress in the state.

Oyedele, a former permanent secretary in the state, Alhaji Yahaya Adeniyi Dosunmu, a former treasurer of the Alliance for Democracy under the chairmanship of Alhaji Rafiu Ogunleye who later became the state deputy governor, Tony Bakare and others were warmly received at the APC secretariat, Ikeja over the weekend.

The state chairman of the party, Chief Henry Ajomale, while acknowledging the strong political standing of the defectors, said 17 other PDP chieftains were eager to join the party.

He added that they are undergoing screening before they would qualify to be admitted to APC fold in few days’ time.

Speaking on the defectors, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, representing Lagos East federal constituency, said,”we welcome and receive Otunba Bode Oyedele to APC. Knowing his strength in the grassroots politics of Lagos East over the years, I am grateful to have been instrumental in his choice in jumping ship to the progressive team.

”I consider this a win-win for the good people of Lagos East, as we now have more people working together to achieve the goal of ensuring that our people continue to benefit from the dividends of democracy.

”With this move, Lagos East Senatorial District is even more consolidated for the APC in the upcoming Local Government Elections and we are certain of landslide victories at the polls. Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko, Lol je gbogbo wa logun,” he said.
