Adamawa Government on Saturday said it spent N4.7 billion on the payment of outstanding salary arrears.

Gov. Muhammadu Bindow indicated this on Saturday in Yola while addressing APC women leaders and stakeholders from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Bindow, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abba-Jimeta, said the money was from the N4.8 billion Paris Club refund given to the state by the Federal Government.

He explained that beneficiaries of the salary arrears included teachers and primary health workers who were paid three months arrears while local government staff received two months arrears.

Bindow lauded the role played by women in the emergence of APC government in the state and national level, assuring them of the commitment of government to empower women in the state.

He explained that this year’s budget had given priority attention to healthcare delivery, particularly in the area of maternal and child health care.

In her address, Hajia Maryam Bindow, wife of the governor, thanked the women for their support to the administration and assured them of the commitment of the administration to carry them along.
