The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Kogi chapter, has said that it is carefully studying the state staff verification as it affects its members.

The NMA Chairman in the state, Dr Magnus Agaraku, made this known in statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Tuesday.

The Kogi Government had on Monday released the results of the long awaited staff verification list pasted at various Ministries, Departments, Agencies and all the 21 local government areas of the state.

“At a time like this, when morale is at its lowest across the state workforce, NMA wishes to state that it stands with our members.

“I have reached out to most of the members of NMA known so far to be affected in one way or the other like visits, phone calls, SMS and other means.

“Affected members are urged once again to call the NMA Secretary or Treasurer before Friday Jan. 20, 2017, to submit relevant data.

“We need the data to be able to meaningfully engage with government.

“Meanwhile, NMA Kogi State is carefully studying the situation; accept assurances of my highest consideration always,” the statement quoted Agaraku as saying.

However, Gov. Yahaya Bello, has said no genuine civil servant will lose their job as a result of the staff verification.

Bello disclosed this at the stakeholders’ meeting on Agriculture, held at Government House in Lokoja on Monday.

“What we are facing today is not the problem of today but the fear that our past leaders failed to confront over the years in this state

“We shall not be intimidated by anybody or group of people from taking the right decisions that will better the lives of the people of Kogi.

“I share in the pains of workers who are yet to get their salaries due to one problem or the other.

“The list is out, if you are on the cleared list and have not collected your salary; you all will be paid up to date.

“If you are in the uncleared list, you have the right to come forward with relevant documents needed to clear you and all your money will be paid to date.

“Workers who do not find their names on either cleared or uncleared list, but who physically filled the data forms will be attended to.

“No genuine worker will be left unattended to, modalities will soon be rolled out for that,” the governor restated. (NAN)
