The people of Osho town demonstrated their displeasure at the kind of services the Ikeja Electric company is rendering to the area. According to the residents, lack of power supply, crazy bills and weak power transformers had plagued the area for more than five years. The residents who couldn’t bear it any longer were seen carrying placards and singing songs outside the office of the Ikeja Electric company, Abule Egba Unit, at Ijaiye-Agbado road, Lagos, on Monday 5 December 2016.
The community heads met with the officials of the electricity company for over two hours on ways to resolve the issues. They demanded for constant power supply, prepaid meters and new power supply transformers to replace the old one in the area.
An official of the company who spoke to some of the residents promised to look into the matter of issuance of crazy bills, erratic power supply among other things as soon as possible. He also directed the residents to write to the Ikeja Electric Company headquarters about a new power transformer request.
Officials of the Youth Alliance for better Nigeria were also on ground to support the residents of the affected area and to make sure the protest was peaceful .
