Two persons, including a driver and his assistant, narrowly escaped death on Thursday when a trailer conveying Nestle bottled water crashed on the Abuja-Keffi Road.
A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, who witnessed the crash, reports that the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. at the Kugbo military checkpoint.
This is coming barely a month after a Coca Cola truck crushed a Honda Accord car killing a woman and her two children at the same spot.
In Thursday’s accident, the trailer was driving down the Kugbo slope towards Mararaba when the driver suddenly lost control, tumbling down and spilling its contents on the road.
The driver and his assistant, who succeeded in jumping out of the moving vehicle before the crash, sustained minor injuries.
The young driver, who refused to disclose his identity to NAN, attributed the accident to brake failure.
The trailer blocked the busy expressway resulting in a traffic gridlock that lasted for over 30 minutes until the vehicle was removed by officials of the FCT Vehicle Inspection Unit.(NAN)
