Man to spend 18 Months in jail for stealing

An Evbouriaria Magistrate Court in Benin, Edo State, has committed a 33-year-old man, Ibrahim Samuel, to 18 months imprisonment for stealing six electrical fuse and five copper wires, property of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).

The convict pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for leniency.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Olatoye Oluwaseun, had told the Court that the convicts committed the offence on October 23, at Isiuwa Street, off Upper Sakpoba Road, Benin.

He further told the Court that the offence is punishable under section390 (9) of the Criminal Code.

Magistrate Mrs. C. E. Oghuma sentenced the convict to 18 months imprisonment with an option of N30,000 fine
